Katoomba regrets...

Yesterday I went antique shopping with a friend of mine in Katoomba and Leura. This included a visit to "Mrs Peel" (The Mall, Leura) where my friend procured a gorgeous turquoise vintage travel bag that she's restoring. We had lunch at the Red Door cafe - a superb all day breakfast menu, one of the sweetest little cafes I've ever visited in the Mountains.

We drove to Katoomba, a more eclectic town known for its jazz age decor and entertainment. Here we explored "Macarthur's Arcade" (a large antique store) and "Mr Pickwick's Books". I tried on a 1950s dress with maroon and mustard coloured flowers in a small vintage clothing shop on Katoomba Street. That dress haunted me for the remainder of the day...

And that's why I am now the not-so-proud owner of an adorable vintage dress that (unlike most dresses) actually looks good on me but comes with a budget deficit of $190.00. It also carries the feeling that if I'm spending over my clothing allowance I need to get sensible before I'm immune to all rationality. The downside of a hobby that's becoming a habit!
